Cut three 25cm squares of white cotton and tack onto squares of wadding, 5mm from the edge. Trim your fabric scraps into 5.5cm wide strips, then cut across each strip into rectangles of random length.

Cut several 4cm wide strips of patterned fabric and and join to make a continuous strip long enough to wrap around the perimeter or the runner. Place the strip right side down on one side of the runner and sew in place.
Trim any excess down to the length of the runner, fold over the raw edge and turn under 5mm on the edge. Pin and oversew the strip to the back of the runner. Repeat for the other three sides.
