Kat DeLuna is an American R&B singer with an estimated net worth of $1.5 million. She was born Kathleen Emperatriz DeLuna on November 26, 1987 in The Bronx, New York City, New York. She was raised in The Bronx and the Dominican Republic, where she grew up with a love for singing.

At the age of 12, she performed on stage and she was heard by Milly Quezada who commended her vocals. Her talent was also recognized by family and friends at her early age. However, it was not until she was 14, when she moved back to the United States (in Newark, New Jersey), that she realized her potential as a singer. She attended Benjamin Franklin Elementary in Newark where she was taught by Nicholas Straus. She then attended Newark Arts High School, where she formed an all-Latina R&B group called Coquette with her friends. The group opened for a Cassidy concert in 2004 when DeLuna was 17. Two years later, she decided to pursue a solo career and signed with GMB Music Group through the Sony-distributed Epic label

DeLuna’s debut album, 9 Lives, released in August 2007 and it was preceded by the club track “Whine Up,” featuring Elephant Man. She has won several awards for her musical work. In 2007, she won “Best New Artist” at the Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica 2007 awards show. In 2008 ,she won “Best New Artist” and “Best Urban Artist” at the TMF Awards, which took place in Belgium. Her debut single,”Whine Up”, won the award for “Latin Dance Club Play Track Of The Year” at the 2008 Latin Billboard Music Awards. She also won a Casandra Award in 2008 for “Best International Artist”.
