Cause of Death

The cause of Foley’s death is under investigation by the Ohio Department of Health and the coroner’s office. Foley was found Sunday by his roommates. There is no evidence that his death is related to the Johnson & Johnson shot — which was paused in the US this week over ties to blood clots.

Foley’s family in a statement described him as “a wonderful and sweet person who brought the joy of our lives.”

“While the facts remain unclear on how he died, we are rejoicing in how he lived: caring for others, lit with God’s grace, and generous to all,” the statement said.

“We know the doctors involved are doing their best. We must be patient, and we ask everyone else to be patient, too. John was going to be a doctor, so this is what he would want.”

On Thursday, Foley’s family released a statement asking for privacy and patience during this difficult time.

Hamilton County Corner Lakshmi Kode Sammarco told Fox 19 that Foley’s death is under investigation by the Ohio Department of Health and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.

Officials have not determined what caused Foley’s death and the family is asking the public to patiently await an answer from investigators.

“Our beloved son John Francis Foley is gone, and our family mourns the loss of this wonderful and sweet joy of our lives. While the facts remain unclear on how he died, we are rejoicing in how he lived: caring for others, lit with God’s grace, and generous to all…We know the doctors involved are doing their best. We must be patient, and we ask everyone else to be patient, too. John was going to be a doctor, so this is what he would want,” read the statement.
